10 Awesome Veggie Cookbooks: Vegetarian and Vegan
Here are my favorite vegetarian and vegan cookbooks to date. These great books have inspired me to cook healthy and delicious food every day.
What cookbook review list would be complete without some enticing recipe photos? As I cooked myself silly, I was sure to snap photos of my absolute favorites. I’m not sure who is more thankful that this list is complete – my husband or the dishwasher!

1) Love Real Food by Kathryne Taylor
Perhaps you’re familiar with a doggie named Cookie. If not, Cookie is the adorable crumb catcher and sidekick of talented food blogger, Kathryne Taylor. Love Real Food is her debut cookbook (released May 2017) and is a true reflection of her creative style and exceptional talent.
Love Real Food is a delightful collection of over 100 vegetarian based recipes featuring fresh and whole foods. Kate also includes gluten-free, vegan, nut free and soy free modifications when possible. Plus, every single recipe is beautifully photographed!

2) Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking by Dana Shultz
Whether you’re a new or long time fan of plant-based cuisine, Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking is a vast collection of no-nonsense recipes.
Dana has impeccably crafted delicious eats that require 10 ingredients or less, one bowl or pot, and/or can be whipped up in 30 minutes or less. Sounds too good to be true, right?
But wait, there’s more! Looking for gluten-free recipes? No problem! A majority of her recipes are gluten-free.

If you’re a loyal fan of Angela’s first book, The Oh She Glows Cookbook (also on this list!), you may want to check out her follow-up vegan cookbook, Oh She Glows Everyday.
With busy lifestyles as the norm these days, Angela compiled a book of satisfying, plant-based recipes that are obtainable for every day life.
Additionally, you won’t need to rely on your imagination as you will find beautiful photography for all of the recipes. Your inspiration and motivation for a plant-based whole food lifestyle will soar with this well-organized cookbook.

5) Fast, Fresh & Green by Susie Middleton
Fast, Fresh & Green is a wonderful collection of recipes with a focus on fresh vegetables. It’s the perfect book for anyone trying to integrate more veggies into their lifestyle. Although the cookbook is not entirely vegetarian, you will find 75% of them are vegetarian driven.
One delightful surprise (of many!) is how Susie has uniquely organized her recipes by cooking technique. You’ll learn how to prepare a plethora of veggies in a variety of enticing ways: quick roasting or braising, hands-on or walk-away sautéing, two-stepping, no cooking, stir-frying and grilling.
Summary: A mostly vegetarian cookbook with countless vegetable side dish possibilities.

Veganomicon boasts that it’s ‘The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook’ and it definitely delivers with over 250 intriguing recipes. Without a doubt, you’ll discover a new favorite or two, or too many to even keep count. Break out those sticky notes!
Even after owning this cookbook for years, I find myself revisiting Veganomicon for timeless favorites and new inspirations.
You’ll have to rely on your imagination though, only a handful of the recipes are photographed. But it’s a small sacrifice for the countless vegan recipes you’ll receive in return.
Summary: A vegan cookbook packed with a diverse collection of recipes.

Plentifully bookmarked throughout the years, Straight from the Earth is one of my all-time favorite cookbooks with irresistible vegan deliciousness. A talented mother-daughter team are the creators of this exceptional recipe collection.
For the home chef, this veggie-centric book presents inventive dishes as well as unique flavor pairings. Straight from the Earth is simply an outstanding cookbook filled with healthy recipes that will pique your interest, time and time again.
